Teen Driving Lessons
As a teenager, driver’s training is one of the first requirements you must satisfy before applying for a driver’s license with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC).
Driver’s education will not only prepare you for your driving skills test, but it will also teach you safe driving habits and help you to become a responsible, intelligent driver.
The minimum age requirements to begin each step of the New Jersey MVC GDL program are as follows:

• Student learner’s permit: 16 years old.
• Examination permit: 17 years old.
• Probationary driver’s license: 17 years old.
• Unrestricted driver’s license: 18 years old.

If you’re a new driver younger than 21 years old, you are required to complete the New Jersey MVC GDL program.
The GDL program is broken down into the following steps and restrictions:

• Special student learner’s permit, which requires:
• Completion of a Driver’s Education course with a certified HOWELL driving instructor.
• A reflectorized license plate decal to be displayed when you drive.
• The permit to be validated to begin supervised driving.
• Supervised driving at all times with a licensed adult who is at least 21 years old and has been driving for at least 3 years.
• No driving between 11:01 p.m. and 5 a.m.
• Your only passengers to be parents, legal guardians, or dependents.
• Parent or guardian supervision, if you have more than 1 passenger.
• Examination permit, which requires:
• A reflectorized license plate decal when you drive.
• Supervised driving at all times with a licensed adult who is at least 21 years old and has been driving for at least 3 years.
• No driving between 11:01 p.m. and 5 a.m.
• Your only passengers to be your parents, legal guardians, or dependents.
• Parent or guardian supervision, if you have more than 1 passenger.
• Probationary driver’s license, which requires:
• A reflectorized license plate decals to be displayed when you drive.
• No driving between 11:01 p.m. and 5 a.m., unless you have a written statement for religious or work reasons.
• Your only passengers to be your parents, legal guardians, or dependents.
• Parent or guardian supervision, if you have more than 1 passenger.
• Full, unrestricted driver’s license.

TEEN DRIVING INFORMATION
Earning a driver’s license has long been a rite of passage for teens. Howell Driving School is pleased to offer both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel driving lessons to teens throughout the Howell, New Jersey area.
Howell’s program provides teen students with a thorough understanding of the New Jersey Rules of the Road so that they are ready to take the instruction permit test.  Howell’s friendly customer service staff works with teens and parents to schedule behind-the-wheel driving lessons with our licensed, trained driving instructors at times that fit teen students’ busy schedules.

Option 1: 16-Year-Old Permit Validation 6 hours: $425

• Vision test
• 6 Hours behind-the-wheel individualized 1-on-1 instruction with licensed, bonded instructor
• Pick up & drop off at home or school
• Activated Permit for supervised driving

Option 2: 16-Year-Old Permit Validation 8 hours: $550

• Vision and written tests
• 8 Hours behind-the-wheel individualized 1-on-1 instruction with licensed, bonded instructor
• Pick up & drop off at home or school
• Activated Permit for supervised driving

Option 3: Road Test Refresher Plus 1 Lesson: $360

• 1 Hour behind-the-wheel refresher lesson with licensed, bonded instructor day of the road test
• Transportation to/from NJ MVC for road test
• Use of driving school car during the road test
• Pick up & drop off at home or school

Option 4: Road Test Refresher Plus Lessons: $485

• 5 Hour behind-the-wheel refresher lessons with a licensed, bonded instructor prior to road test
• Transportation to/from NJ MVC for road test
• Use of driving school car during the road test
• Pick up & drop off at home or school for lessons and road test
   

There will be a 3.5% service fee added to all credit card transactions.
